STONEWARE and PORCELAIN SHROOMS

WHAT ARE SHROOMS:
I often use forms from nature to inform my pottery. The Shroom forms happened by accident but fit in easily with my ideals of using nature to influence my sculptural forms, and so the unusual name evolved from large mushrooms growing on our property adjacent to my kilns.

Stoneware Shrooms
Stoneware is a fantastic clay medium for sculpting. The clay body looks good un-glazed. It's easy to throw, slap, or roll and shape, and very very durable when high fired.

Porcelain Shrooms
Porcelain differs from stoneware in it's lightness. It is just as durable and strong but it is lighter in value and coloration. It can be more challenging to work, but it is a joy to behold.
