In which Louise and Steve drive four days to the Western Slope of Colorado taking photographs along the way. While in Paonia, Colorado they enjoy the Independence Day Weekend. Taking leave, they drive five days back to Indiana, again taking photographs along the way of Places and People and Things.

Our photo road trip has ended, at least this edition. Along the way we met incredibly friendly and interesting people. We experienced wonderful sights, some we hoped to find and others happened upon unknown and unexpected. We hope you have enjoyed our photos as we journeyed across the midwest and back. For us, looking for and happening upon interesting subject matter has been a great joy as well as posting them online for you to see. We're thinking already of our next photo journey to share.   As always, Happy Trails.

Day One Tuesday 6/30/2009 Driving southwest on backroads from New Carlisle, IN. to Hannibal, MO.
Day Two Wednesday 7/1/2009 Arriving in the Flint Hills of Kansas - the geographic center of the contiguous United States.
Day Three Thursday 7/2/2009 A long day of driving through the plains of Kansas and Colorado. The best photos taken at the end of the day.
Day Four Friday 7/3/2009 Today we had time to take a more leisurely drive enjoying the scenery along the Arkansas River and over Monarch Pass.
Day Five Saturday 7/4/2009 Independance Day, Cherry Days, and Louise's Birthday rolled into one day. Paonia, CO.
Day Six Sunday 7/5/2009 Intrepid cyclists declare their intention to bicycle from Colorado to Indiana.
Day Seven Monday 7/6/2009 Dropped Zac and Sarah off in Montrose to begin their cycle journey, then drove through the "Adobes" seeing the sights and taking photos.
Day Eight Tuesday 7/7/2009 We begin our first day's drive of our five day drive home, entering high country with our first sight of Aspens this trip.
Day Nine Wednesday 7/8/2009 We climb into the Medicine Bow Mountiains of Wyoming, cross the Continental Divide, then coninue down to the plains and our evening's stop in Torrington, WY.
Day Ten Thursday 7/9/2009 Our most personal B&B experience to date at the Tea Kettle B&B in Torrington, Wyoming. Our hosts, Isabel and Calvin, opened their home and their 1000 acre ranch to us.
Day Eleven Friday 7/10/2009 The scenic change driving from Nebraska to Iowa was dramatic. Not only did the topography and flora differ, but the condition of the barns changed from weather beaten gray to religious white.
Day Twelve Saturday 7/11/2009 Wanting to avoid traffic around Chicago, we drove from Peoria through central Illinois and Indiana, then north and home.
